The coal industry has played an important role in the history of Colorado and the West. Local historian and railroad fan Larry Dorsey presents a program called “Black Diamonds and Silver Rails” on September 18, a look at the relationship between coal mining and the railroads in Western history. His Power Point program will explore this connection from the 19th century to the present and help to understand why there are so many long trains pulling only coal cars on Colorado railroads.
